Rocks Under the Microscope
The following images are pictures of rocks in thin section. Thin sections are very thin slices of rock that can be viewed under a microscope. On the left, the section is viewed in cross polarized light (CPL) and on the right, the same section is viewed in plane polarized light (PPL).
